Red Leaf University on Kickstarter !
Today, a closer look at the new title from our publishing partner Grail Games, currently available on Kickstarter.
Red Leaf University is the latest creation by Adrian Adamescu (Sagrada, Mistwind, Sparks…) and Florin Purluca (Sparks). The game offers an original take on worker placement and worker improvement mechanics, woven into a distinctive theme of anthropomorphic students, and brought to life by dozens of illustrations by Sylvain Leroy.
Red Leaf will join Grail Games’ line of mid-weight eurogames, alongside Snowcrest and Night Soil (whose French edition is coming later this year).
Red Leaf University is a worker placement game for 1 to 4 players. In it, you recruit a team of students and send them to various specialized campuses to develop their knowledge and earn academic credits, gaining an advantage over your rivals and ending the game as the valedictorian.
This title stands out for its worker recruitment and improvement system, as well as for the variety of campuses (six available), each offering its own small, specific mini-games. This campus system is built on simple rules but offers many choices, allowing players to pursue very different strategies.
A game lasts around one hour and relies on streamlined versions of well-known mechanics, making Red Leaf University more accessible than many eurogames while still retaining significant depth.
Your goal is to earn as many graduation points as possible by building a team of students and sending them across the different campuses.
During the game, you can improve your students as they progress from year to year, and you may even gain the sponsorship of Masters, renowned figures from the academic world (Isaac Newt, Virginia Wolf). The heart of the game lies in deciding which student to improve, when to do it, and where to send them.
Each campus (Art, Science, Library, Business, etc.) offers its own dedicated mini-game, ranging from tile placement and track advancement to collecting paint tokens to create works of art. By finding the right combinations and optimizing synergies with your team of students, you will earn enough victory points to become the valedictorian.
For this campaign, Grail Games has focused on creating the best possible edition, designed specifically for Kickstarter and featuring premium components, including a large number of printed wooden tokens.
This version will be exclusive to the campaign, making it the perfect opportunity to pick up the game.
